Are We Relaxing Yet?

Made it! And with only a 26 minute layover in Chicago. Here's a first: both my incoming and outgoing flights used the same terminal. P'awesome!
Another first (for me, you may have already experienced): flight attendant actually announced, once everyone was aboard, that folk with assigned seats aft of the wing emergency exits were not allowed to move forward into an empty seat from the emergency row forward, because "those seats cost extra."
As a result NO ONE was seated in the emergency row AT ALL.
And I did not like that one bit, for a number of reasons.

Why the hell do the seats next to the emergency exit cost more???? Back when I was flying regularly after the cabin steward came in from cranking the prop she'd make sure anyone next to an emergency door was in physical enough condition to open it and/or help others.

Now they CHARGE you for that??? WTF
